Contest News

Adam Perry/Moogle is the winner of the 2007 Surlaw Mystery Box! His article in volume 11 on Hero Design was voted the best article of the issue.

• The deadline for the Newbie Game Remake Contest has been extended. For more details, see the contest discussion thread.

OHR Scene Art Contest

(1) Choose a scene from ANY OHRRPGCE game, then illustrate it using whatever medium you choose. It doesn't matter whether you use traditional art tools such as paper and pen, or go digital with your work, so long as you follow this rule.

(2) Post your image to this thread! It's that simple!

(3) Your artwork must conform to the already extremely lenient art forum rules, posted here: http://www.castleparadox.com/ohr/viewtopic.php?p=43900#43900 If you're not sure whether what you have is okay to post, go ahead and contact me through a PM, or through AIM.

At the end of each month (as this contest will be ongoing like the avatar contest), voting will be open to the community to decide which three entries are THE BEST of the lot. Then, those three will be submitted to Surlaw for the magazine! So begin creating art from your favorite scenes in OHRRPGCE games, and earn the respect and admiration of your peers!

Engine News

• The official release of the next version of the OHR engine is here! Download the latest version on the official website and be sure to read the What's New file to see what's changed. Some major changes include customizable menus, custom death animations for enemies, and the ability to recolor pretty much every menu/text box that the engine produces.

Some Words from the Community

Every month, we'll spotlight some comments from the readers regarding the previous month's issues.

"Me and Moogle1 seem to go back and forth on these feature things, and I really enjoyed his this time around. I only wish he went a little lighter on the examples, but nevertheless I found it to be pretty helpful. I do plan specific abilities for my heroes before making the game, as well as general stat balancing." -MSW, SlimeSalad Forums

"More pixel art tutorials!" -James Paige, OHRRPGCE Founder

"all i can say is.... thanks.... thanks for the publicity of my game, are you trying to make me feel bad because you seem to be trying to get on my slime for some reason just because my game seemed to have sucked here where all the heavy critics are.

But now that you went and trolled my game hard and put it up on your magazine all i can say is wow, i have a fan ;)
