What is the DEAL with October? It's like the world has fallen off the
Internet. Castle Paradox and Slime Salad have both become ghost
forums. What is going on? What can be done?

It's Back-to-School season of course. Most of our dear users are back to the grind and all worn out. For some reason October seems to be a busy month in general, most of the people I know who work (myself included) have also been overwhelmed.
As for what can be done... I don't know. It pretty much decompresses on its own, you'll find people coming back by the end of October, when everyone realizes that they don't need to sweat it so much, and the professional world calms the heck down.
What recurring OHR game contest is your favorite, which is your least, and why?

The problem with my opinion on contests is that I haven't really participated in them as much as I could be, which is to say, at all. I have played quite a few contest entries over the years and a lot of them happen to be my favorite games.
I really enjoy the Terrible Games Contest and the 48 Hour contest. Some OHR Classics have come out of those, and it's hard to compete with the dedication the contest organizers have put into it on a consistent basis.
The Epic Marathon contest looks like a great time too, although I don't know much about it.

My least favorite contests are the ones that are stupid and terrible, which should be obvious, but that I have to make that distinction is part of the problem. There was one that was like, make an OHR game about the community, you have 5 days!
